Meditation is called so many different ways including conscious relaxation, practical meditation, or simple relaxation.. Relaxing helps our body and our minds in many ways, it help us deal with stress, help us rest in a short period of time, it can even help us deal with illness physically and mentally.
It can be done in 15 to 20 minutes, it is recommendable to do it twice a day, but even once a day is beneficial, these benefits are easily appreciated once you get comfortable practicing meditation / relaxation.
A simple method to meditate is:
1. Find a quiet place where you can sit comfortable (if you lay down you might fall sleep) undisturbed for about 20 minutes.
2. Place you hands on your lap in a comfortable position.
3. Close you eyes, clear your mind and take a deep breath, imagining when exaling that the stress in your body is this yellowish soft cloud that leaves your body with every exale. Repeat this three times.
4. Imagine a white light touching the top of your head and slowly covering each part of your body and relaxing every muscle as it goes by; starting with your head, your eyes, mouth, neck and shoulders. Continue with your arms all the way down to your hands. Feel your chest and back relaxing as the light covers them, continue with your abdomen all the way down to your knees, feet and toes. By now your body is completely relaxed, feel how good it feels.
5. Imagine yourself in a wonderful place, in a place where you feel so comfortable and rested, feel the warmth and breathe the freshness of the air.
6. To relax even more count down from 25 repeating mentally to yourself the word “Relax”.
7. Then tell to yourself “I give permission to my body to relax, to eliminate all signs of stress and pain, to every cell in my body to gently carry oxygen to every organ, muscle, or nerve needing it, I trust my body and I accept my body”, and just concentrate on your breathing for a few more minutes.
8. This should take you 15 to 20 minutes, when you are ready take a deep breath and start counting to 20, start moving your toes and go all the way up to your head as you keep counting, when you get to 19 say to yourself “when I count to 20 I will be energized, wide awake and feeling refreshed and ready to go”…20 open your eyes and…enjoy!
